I would like to know how to make my own video surveillance system using materials that i already have if possible. I am being harrassed by the animals a.k.a. kids on my block. The law allows them to get away with this stuff but I would like to catch them in the act on my quest to getting the laws changed in Milwaukee.

if you have a video camera or web cam allready you could use that and hook it up to the tv or computer and use one of those to record and save the footage. I had a similar problem and i just but a camera in my window and attached it to me tv and vcr. Good Luck

I was wondering if wireless computer video monitoring system a good deterrent against buglers who are non-violent?

Would seeing a video system set up in my front door, back door etc. be a deterrent?

For deterrence should it be clearly visible?

I figure if the cameras were hidden it would not act as a deterrence.

Make the Dummy cameras Visible but make the Real ones Invisible; Put it at a strategic hidden place. If they foil the camera they would likely foil the fake and not the real so that you can catch em on cctv!!

You can get software that can control everything in your house. Music, video, Cable, Wash machine, dishwasher, oven security and lights, just to name a few. Being in the field I would need to ask you more questions as to your specific application.

Example: Surveillance that runs by motion sensors and alerts you via multiple sources. Yo could be at work and get an alert and then view what is going on at your home location.

Hi, it is easy to put a monitor in each room

1) where you have the recorder for the surveillance system, the monitor output can be connected to a Video Distributer. This means you connect the video cable for 1 monitor to the box, then you have 4 to 8 monitor outputs so you can connect multiple monitors.

Type in 'cctv video distributor' in Yahoo or google and it will show you local suppliers. You will be able to find pictures on what it looks like, Ones that are not brand name can be as cheap as $50


2) If you put a PC based surveillance system in the house, then you can still have multiple monitors but you will need a ' VGA Splitter' again you can type this in your search engine to find the nearest supplier.


3) You can also use a wireless sender to another monitor in the house and just move the monitor around as you need to save a bit of money over buying that many monitors.

I'm doing a project on safety for my campus. If i wanted to install a camera at the entrance of a building, have it feed into a monitor in one of the rooms in the building and I wanted to send a live feed of the surveillance to another building less than a mile away, what equipment would I need? Thanks!

They do make wireless cameras, also wired, you need to make sure that you have a device that it can connect to the network with, such as a hub, wireless access, access point, switch or router.

Once the device is on the network you will be able to connect to the IP address of the device and Wha,la you are off to the races
