You can buy packages online that will probably will do the trick, such as http://www.DVR.com. You can put together a pretty good system using different components you purchase there.

For a more custom approach, I highly recommend a company I worked with in the past called Telewatch. These guys are experts in video surveillance solutions and can give you free advice. I would recommend starting out with them, since you're looking for a system that can capture license plates, which needs some expertise to setup. You can check them out at http://www.telewatch.us.

Are you recording all the time?
What is your bit rate? (is it running out of disc space?)

Are you sure it rebooted and not went to screen saver mode ? (which depending on your setup can bring you back to the Login screen).

What is the time stamp of the file?
How robust is the application that records? What is the max. file it supports? Perhaps when it reaches x GB of storage it stops.

One that you could watch when at home or work from your pc?
I think it's a great thing to have. Why wouldn't all daycares have them?
I understand about the chain daycare thing. I don't like it either. Employee turn over is nuts. My five year old is about to start K and my three year old has a couple more years. We are thinking of sending the 3 year old to my husbands church daycare. Were the teacher has 6 kids instead of 12. I think it would be less stressful for her. Plus her new class has a biter and puncher in there, that they don't do much about. My three year old is changing fast, and in some ways her attitude is changing faster. I understand there are awful three's, but like someone else said. "I'm waiting for her head to spin around". She gets out of control sometimes. There at daycare they put them in time out in front of everyone. At home or my husbands church they have a time out room. I think time outs should be taken alone, helps cool them off better.
I work at home. I have the option to watch. Trust me, when i have down time, i am at the daycare.

I'm not sending my kids to daycare as I don't want them to be brainwashed and because I think I can take care of my kids better then a daycare can. However if I were to send my kids to a daycare I would NOT under ANY circumstances send my children to a daycare that did not have enough staff on hand and didn't have adequate security and video cameras.

Yes ... the output from the PS2 is composite video which is what a video capture card wants to see. You just need to make sure both are set for PAL or NTSC.

Or do I have to have one that is DVR threw the computer?? I haven't baught one yet I was just wondering because I do want to be able to view from other locations threw the internet. But really would prefer the one with DVR box so I don't use up all my computer hard drive. Could I buy a cable to connect it to the PC would that work so I could view it on the internet or do I just need to get the one that's connected to the Computer

my pc. I'm trying to record surveillance from my shop using network cameras I can see from home through the internet. If this is possible how does this work?
I would love to use the vcr for recording...I need to know how to do this from home, using a video capture card and a vcr?

There are programs to remotely monitor places, but video takes a lot of hard drive space. I would use a VCR to record and use the computer to do periodical checks.
