I woke up this morning and my fence was wide open and there was unknown foot prints in the sand by the gate leading in to my yard. So I am thinking of putting up some video cameras. I would like one for the front door one for the gate and one for the back door. I would need something that captures video or pictures because it would mostly be used at night. Any suggestions?

You will also want a monitor next to the DVR... a 15" flat-panel TV is fine. I also send the video signal from the DVR to the other TVs in the house and use the extra AV-in jacks - so I can watch TV or the video surveillance just by selecting the appropriate AV input.

I want a camera but theres so many models i have no idea what to get.

I want one that:

Does good quality videos druing night and day times.

I dont want it to be blurry or the sound to be bad or noisy-like.

I DONT want or expect EXPERT tv-soap opera video quality, but I want it to be decent and well great looking for shooting short nonsense films and trips to six flags and stuff.. enough to see small details and for it to look good and not too fuzzy when I watch it on the PC.

Allows me to transfer videos from the cam to the pc. ... and burn them to DVDs if possibe.

and.. I never had a cam before so it'll be nice if the cam can be simple to learn to use & get used to.

im looking to buy a video camera for around 1200-1600 i have been looking at the JVC Everio GZHD7 3CCD. any thoughts on this camera or please recommend cameras you no of..... must be hd but can be mini dv or hard drive
also i need it to have a manual focus on the outside with the wheel
