I am looking for a dvd digital video camera that has infrared capability where it can record in total darkness. Also has 880 -1200x digital zoom.

If your thinking of Ghost hunting or using it for I.T.C. go With the Sony line of camcorders for the nightvision, i have one it works great and will pick up stuff.

Any digital video camera can in theory, but some have filters installed that block it out.

I think it is possible, but I don't think you need an infra read camera. A regular camera can capture this if you can capture the exact moment the spirit leaves the body.

When I say dim light enviroment I mean a club. I don't like the infrared effect! And I can't use a light bulb to lighten the scene that I'm shooting because it will ruin the club atmosphere... Any suggestions?

Some camcorders are better than others at low-light but none will look good. Cameras need light. In general, your best bet would be a 3-CCD model.

I recommend that you get permission to use lighting. The "we're shooting a live TV program today" atmosphere can be just as appealing as the dim club scene so long as you don't do it every night.

Probably not enough to be noticeable. CCDS or CMOSs can pick up IR, visible, and UV rays, but there are filters in there that can block IR and UV. So IR lights shouldnt affect the image. There are external UV filters that can be added to further decrease UV transmission, but no IR filters that I know of, so the built in one probably cuts out pretty much all the IR light. Hope this helps!

I have an indoor security camera with infrared. I run the signal from this camera a fair distance (over high grade cable) to a video modulator. But by the time the signal gets to the modulator, the signal is too weak. I need to amplify the signal at the source but don't know what kind of amplifier that would be.
