Because we don't have much money at the office, we need to create a Pro video of our Products and Services using our Home video camera, but we want to do it in the most Professional way possible.

What shall we do? What suggestions can you give us? Which mistakes we shall not do?

Use a backdrop so that the background you shoot against is not busy. Use the appropriate plain backdrop for your product (for example if the product is dark, use a light backdrop)

Write a script for your video so that each step is carefully laid out. This will help to avoid retakes.

Don't record any live audio, no conversations with the person being filmed, no talking on their part. It will be much easier to record the sound later and dub it in using an editing program.

Buy an appropriate soundtrack from a website that sells music for just that kind of application. It's called royalty-free and costs around $30 for a 3-5 minute track. You can always loop it if you need it to be longer.

Have a person with a clear speaking voice record the talking part of the video.

Take still shots with a digital camera then edit with text, arrows as appropriate and add to your editing. You can use stills from the video but the quality won't be as good.

Use an editing program that has good transitions (fades from one scene to another. Don't try and get too fancy with those, keep it simple.

Use text screens against a colored frame (a 720x480 colored graphic .jpg) to accentuate important points. Use an intro graphic and credits graphic with your company's logo on it.

Here's an example of one I filmed and edited. I did NOT use the right colored backdrop or take stills from a digital camera for this one. I'm learning too.

We have a nasty nighborgh who aften time let their dog shit at our front yard and we don't have any evidence that we can confront them. We need some help with seting up a home video camera to catch up the nasty people. We appreciate any help.

AT&T has a home monitoring service avail. for a monthly fee of $9.95 + $99 (1 time fee) for a kit that includes a camera, a sensor & a Gateway device that plugs into a computer router. Is there a cheaper way to acheive this? I would like to be able to monitor my home via the internet without broadcasting the live feed to the world. How can I accomplish this? I'm not completely computer savvy so please use layman's terms when responding to my question.

If you're not really computer savvy, go for the AT&T option. Any other option would involve setting up a secure web server and a streaming media server to serve the camera feed.
