Five American soldiers were killed when a group of Iraqis dressed in American army uniforms penetrated a secure government compound in the Baghdad suburb of Karbala. The insurgents drove an armored GMC SUV - standard US government issue - through multiple checkpoints to enter the compound, one of the most protected areas in Iraq.

Once inside, they drove directly to a building housing security officials planning counter-insurgency activity. They opened fire on a meeting in progress, targeting only Americans. After 20 minutes of exchanged gunfire, the attackers got back in their SUV and drove away. Iraqi officials noted that the attack was striking for the sophistication of its planning and execution.

You are on guard detail for an extremely VIP in hostile country. You are escorting this person between vehicle and a crowded courtyard. The VIP will be in the red zone for 3 hours before being taken back to green in an armored SUV.

How do you arm yourself? Only describe your personal armanent and not how the rest of the detail should be armed or organized.

Alright - you mention that this is an urban setting and involves vehicles, the open air, and indoors. That is important in making your selection.

To start off with, if there's no requirement for concealment, which you don't mention, then I'll want larger, more powerful weapons as a general rule of thumb. That means the sidearm will be a custom 1911 in .45ACP - if it's good enough for Delta, it had damn well better be good enough for me. Those guys do stuff worse than this every day and that's what they carry without exception. There's gotta be a reason - the accuracy, shootability, reliability and power that no other gun matches (Glocks and even HKs may be accurate, reliabile and powerful, but for shootability, the 1911 would be tops). Load that 1911 with 230gr +P Speer Gold Dots. Keep the gun clean and simple - no lights, lasers or suppressors - this is a defensive weapon, a sidearm that should be handy and accessible, not heavy and cumbersome.

For my primary weapon, it would have to be an FN SCAR-L in the 10.5" barrel length (I know that you sacrifice a great deal of velocity, energy and lethality going from the 20" or even 16" barrel down to 10.5", but it would be worth it for the maneuverability and handiness in a close-quarters situation involving vehicles). The SCAR-L, in 5.56mm NATO, should be loaded with Mk 262 Mod 1 ammunition - the 77-grain projectile makes up for alot of the energy lost with the short barrel, making a very effective fighting carbine. The SCAR also has a folding stock, which makes it as compact as an MP5, but much more powerful than even the 10mm variant someone else has listed here. With this weapon, you should be able to reach out to at least 200m with accurate, effective fire against a human target; although you might not get good reliabile kills way out there from that short barrel, for VIP protection, that should be more than enough. Up close, that Mk262 round is lethal, even from a 10.5" barrel.

For accessories on the carbine, I'd only want a Tangodown vertical grip up front for quick, full-auto stability and an Aimpoint M68CCO up top. That red dot gives you the precision to make those 200 yard shots if you need, but is so quick at target acquisition up close, which is what you really need. Keep the high-powered scopes for more open, long-ranged work.

I would like 2 M67 frag grenades, 3 flashbang grenades and 2 smoke grenades. I would like 7x30-round magazines for the SCAR and 4x8-round magazines for the 1911. I think that would be enough to handle just about any situation that one person could make it out of alive from without being too heavy to move.

If I get to leave something in the SUV, I'd have an M240B medium machinegun with 500 or so rounds of 7.62x51mm NATO. That M240B could be pulled out if needed to establish a defensive perimeter - i.e. the SUV is roadblocked, ambushed, etc. - and would provide a great deal more firepower and penetration than the SCAR-L.

Setup like that, you could be confident in quickly and powerfully engaging targets from point-blank out to 200 yards on foot, and from 25-800 yards with the MG. I don't think there's a better combination for this purpose out there today.

my parents just bought a home in mexico, we were advised by our realtor and neighborhood security to obtain a armored vehicle for safety (i guess to stop a "man on fire" like event) we are looking to purchase a armored vehicle for undr 100k and are unable to find a dealer? anyone who could point us in the right direction ( we were reccomended to a company who did large vans but we are looking for something like a suburbanesque SUV or lux sedan) thanks alot and happy new year

I'm level 19 CAST on the DEMO and I want to know, how exactly do I get the SUV weapon and use it? I know I need to buy the Grom Buster from the GRM shop but do I need other armor to get it? Like do I need an extra slot armor piece? And just in case it matters, the Grom Buster is rank B.

Step-by-step instructions would be very nice.

And by the way, don't tell me about getting the real game. Odds are I'm not going to spend money on top of what I already pay to play Xbox LIVE on it. Just please answer my question.

I have Goodyear Wrangler SR-A (245/65 17) on the front and am wondering if i can put Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor on the back. they are the same size, just basically different tread designs. Will this have an effect to my Suv in any way?
