Who is a good alarm monitoring company for commerical accounts in Minneapolis?
I am looking at bids for a commercial alarm/controlled entry system. If you know of someone and have had a good experience please let me know their company name and contact info.
I used to work for Honeywell security until I was transferred to their corporate offices and the company was then acquired by another firm out of New Jersey so I am no longer with the company.
But while I WAS working with the private and commercial alarm accounts, I can say that they were VERY good. If there was ever a snafu, it was usually the police responding to a call from us asking for them to investigate. (Like the bank who had the chief of police at the bank on a Sunday to check the alarms and waited and waited and waited for a squad to respond to the call.)
What I WILL say to you is make sure your contact list--the people that are to be called when an alarm trips--are ready, willing and able to respond too--like at 3am when that alarms goes off. Also give specific instructions (with ANY company that you choose) when an alarm goes off. For example: If an alarm goes off and it re-set, don't bother call list--unless there is no call in from the site/person tripping the alarm.
All I can do is give you the web site, but if you have questions, you can always e-mail me!

If a person refuses to pay for past alarm monitoring services can the alarm company put a lien on the home?
A client refuses to pay 129.00 for monitoring services that we performed at his home. Can the company put a lien on th property instead of going to small claims court?
You can only lien for the cost of equipment not paid for, not for services. You would need to obtain a judgment for that, but do not count on it. Most judges will require you to put something like this in collections.
Includes a piercing 110 dB siren
Up to 100-foot range

Looking for an alarm monitoring company in CT?
Well im looking to secure my home with an alarm system. I basically want a company that offers a free system that I get to keep if I ever cancel the contract, and thats under $40/month. So far I know of the following companies in Connecticut:
-ADT
-Brinks
-protection one
-Safe Home Security (SHS)
If there are any other companies that you would recommend post em, and please suggest a company that meets my specs.
Thanks
GE alarm system is the name of quality as they have earned tremendous business by giving extra ordinary alarm system. You can see great number of products available with the label of GE alarm system. GE wireless alarm system is also much popular as it has great number of benefits for people in order to give them good security. There are other then wireless alarm systems also available in the market. But it depends on your own choice that which one you are going to buy. According to my opinion, you should get such a security system that can give you good performance. General electric alarm system has multiple products. All the products have good standard and you can be relaxed in the home using any GE alarm system. http://www.thealarmsystems.com/ge-alarm-systems.php

Reliable low cost alarm monitoring company?
Hey, I want to hook up an alarm in my house, but with so many companies out there, I don't know who to go with. I'm looking for a reliable fast response to an alarm company that has an reasonable monthly charge ($20-$25ish). And if any one has had some good or bad experiences with any Alarm company please post for my reference. So far I have considered ADT, Brinks, GE Monitoring, Safe Home Alarms and much more.
I'm also looking for free system deals and packagaes and free instillation if possible.
yea your right, $25 is very hard to find, guess you can call me cheap lol. Well right now im looking into system deals and discounts. Anyone know of any deals?
Alarm One installed my system for free and gave me free monitoring by the month for referrals I gave them when I first moved here. The monitoring started at $30 per month and eventually increased to $55 which is why I changed to Protection One which charged $35. No one in my area is offering monitoring for the range you desire that has local offices monitoring the system. When I had a fire last year, local monitoring was essential because the fire department was dispatched and arrived before we suffered much structural damage.

When a home alarm system is removed should the monitoring company have discovered on their own via monitoring?
I moved a few years ago. I was renting an apartment and removed the alarm system. Now, three years later the monitoring company claims I did not notify them of the removal and wants to be paid for monitoring per the auto renewal contract provision even though they provided no service. My position is when the system was removed they should have been aware, had they been monitoring per the contract.
Ah this is bad because you did not notify them.
Seriously though, they knew. I was a Monitoring Operator for years and you can tell. 1. The system would have stopped sending daily test signals. There was their first clue. 2. They would have received some sort of panel tamper when you removed the system. 3. They definitely would have received a communication trouble.
Were you under some sort of contract? Did it state they need notification to end the agreement? If not, screw them.
Bottom argument: They were not providing a service for the past 3 years. Sounds like they're just trying to get money out of you. And even if you were still connected, they weren't providing a very decent service if they couldn't tell your system was not communicating.

Premium Service Central at Alarm Central
On March 31, I again had the distinct honor of being able to reveal and present the Police Dispatch Quality (PDQ) Award’s annual winner. This year it was Atronic Alarms of Lenexa, Kan., with Custom Alarm of Rochester, Minn., and ADT Security Services of Boca Raton, Fla., being the other finalists. You can read all about it in the May issue of SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION.
The PDQ program is near and dear to my heart as it developed out of a concept I presented to Stan Martin, now executive director of the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC), and Larry Dischert, now retired but at the time director of industry and regulator liaison for ADT, during an ISC West show earlier this decade. A couple of years later the vision was realized with the addition of the False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA).
Established jointly in 2005 by SSI, SIAC and FARA, the PDQ program aims to curtail the false alarm problem by recognizing installing and monitoring companies that follow established industry best practices and partner with law enforcement to achieve the highest quality in police dispatch requests. The goal is to raise industry-wide awareness, motivate alarm firms to be proactive and provide models that work for others to follow.
As is often the case, I gathered far more material than could possibly be shoehorned into the print article and so here I give loyal Under Surveillance readers the second part of five bonus postings covering this year’s PDQ program. This installment allows you to learn more about Atronic’s secret weapon in achieving its winning ways -- its third-party central monitoring station, Kansas City-based Alarm Central. The monitoring provider's general manager, Jeremy Wyble, gives his perspective of the false alarm issue.
Alarm Central is the first third-party central station to be associated with winning the Police Dispatch Quality (PDQ) Award (the previous three ran their own centrals). How does that feel?
