Looking for some new games to play on game night. We already have Things, Cranium, scattergories, taboo....so if any other ones would be great since we get bored of the same old games. Like it if they make everyone laugh and have a good time.

There are a wealth of board games that are great for game nights, and not just the old run-of-the-mill Monopoly/Life/Scrabble/Risk/et al. that are on the shelves at Wal-Mart/Target. Something on the order of 1500-2000 new games come out annually*. Naturally some of them are somewhat esoteric and will not appeal to everyone, but there will always be new games that will come out that will have a wide appeal. Germany gives out an annual prize called the Spiel des Jahres ('Game of the Year') which is awarded to a new game that has wide appeal for groups and families. Some recent winners of the SdJ are fantastic games, and though they might not have wide-spread coverage as yet, they are a growing market sector. Some examples include:



1. Wits & Wagers - Actually, this one is available on the shelves at Target, and is a great fun and short game for the family and players of all ages. The game is played over seven rounds where players are all asked a question that has a numerical answer (e.g. What percent of a watermelon is water?) All players write their answers down on erasable whiteboards and then reveal. The answers are ranked from highest to lowest on the odds chart, and then players place bets on which one they believe is the right answer. The winning answer is the one that is correct without going over (Price is Right style), and those who bet on that answer get paid out based on their bets and odds (e.g. 2-to1, 3-to-1). 2. Say Anything -- Another great game by the designer of Wits and Wagers (What can I say, Dominic Crapuchettes knows how to make fun party games). One player selects a question from a card, and all of the other players write down what they think the reading player's answer would be to that question. All of the answers are revealed, and the reading player secretly selects the answer that he or she would give. Then, all of the other players place bets on which answer they think is correct (like in Wits & Wagers). The reading player then reveals his or her choice, and players get paid out for selecting the correct one. Remarkably fun, and lends itself well to creativity and fun with any style of group. 3-8 players, 15-25 minutes. 3. Time's Up! - This is a fantastic game for a group, it's a little bit of Taboo/Catchphrase mixed with Charades, but is always wildly entertaining. At the start of the game, players get 5 cards that have personality names on them (i.e. celebrities, historical persons, et al.) From those, players choose three to add to the main deck and discard the other two. Players pair off into teams (though teams larger than two if you have more than 10 players), and the game begins. In the first round of the game, a player has 30 seconds to get his or her teammate(s) to guess as many names on the cards as possible, and the acting player can use words or gestures to convey the name (pretty much anything except "starts with" or the actual name), and the teammate(s) can have as many guesses as wanted. Guessed names are retained by the acting team. Then the next player continues until the whole of the deck is exhausted for the first time, and each team scores for the amount of cards won in that round. In the second round, the deck is shuffled back together and again players try to get teammates to guess the names, but only gestures and one word may be used, and teammate(s) get only one guess. Same as before, won cards are kept and scored at the end of the round. In the final round, the deck is again shuffled, and teams try to get the teammate(s) to guess, but only gestures may be used. 4. Ticket to Ride - SdJ 2005. This is a great game for families and groups of friends. Players get points by building routes across a map of the United States by collecting and playing colored train cards that correspond to the routes. In addition to getting points for the length of the routes played, each player has secret goals of destinations that need to be linked by their train cars, and players who complete their secret goals receive bonus points at the game's end. 2-5 players, 45-75 minutes. 5. Settlers of Catan - SdJ 1995 -- This gem of trade and negotiation has been one of the most prolific games in the world behind stalwarts like Monopoly, and was recently licensed and is playable on XBox live. In this game, players are developing communities on the fictional island of Catan. Settlement placement coupled with die rolls give players resources, and players trade and spend resources to build road

At a party about 5 years ago, someone brought a board game. It was adult oriented without being overly risque and it was a drinking game. The board was VERY similar to a chutes & ladders board. I have no idea what it was called and have been googling with no luck. If anyone is familiar with this game, I'd be eternally grateful. I wish I could remember more details about it...
It's not Sip and Go Naked or Binge... I recall dare cards and you either did the dare or drank. The dares were sort of dirty but nothing worse than PG-13.

Some people play an adult game called Titillation with some drinking rules that aren't in the game. The game can be purchased at www.titillationgame.com. This is probably not the game you are thinking of because it uses a Monopoly styled board (not chutes and ladders). Some of the game spaces direct players to remove articles of clothing. When I played it, players had to drink in addition to removing their clothing. It is a very cool game, though.

Intimate evening? If you create a "prize", which could be a cookie or a kiss or something else to comply with the "intimate" that you mentioned, you could play joust. Joust requires a chess board and two knights and 64 dimes (or 64 corn kernels or anything that you can put on a square where the knight is: say you got 64 beans.

Now if you want to win, tell her to be white, that is, she has the white knight. That is because the second to move is always able to "take away a square" from the one who just moved. You must always move towards where she moves in a way that you always take away a square from her (she may have a choice of 2, 3, or 4 squares but at each move you will take one away, and so on till she will run out of moves...she will be "stuck" (no place to go), so you will... if the game is to be "sensual" at each loss she can take a piece of clothes off!! (but it does not have to be that way).

Now, how do the knights move? simple: use the chess rule: knight move in L shape. If you don't know it, just google "knight move" and you will see. You could also google "chess joust" to see how the game works.

This is a simple and inexpensive game - if you buy a chess board and set then you can also play chess but women usually don't like chess.

I have Apples to Apples, Fact or Crap, and Buzzword. I am looking for suggestions for other good adult board games.

Balderdash a popular bluffing game they give you a word and you make up a definition they give you a movie title and you make up what the movie is about they give you a law and you make up the end and so on very fun!!!
