why is Gps Monitoring system 12 dollars a day?
you would think it would be cheaper for us to use these for our overcrowded prisons but Im confused..why does it not tell you where she is going but, that shes home?why is not like a phone/car tells your location?
are these the same ones used for sex offenders?does it not tell where they go?
This really upsets me Mr Kelly.I had always thought the GPS systems were great for sex offenders now that I know it only tells you if they are home and not their where abouts.
I always felt this was the best answer to keep track sex offenders now I feel as though they need to be locked up.....
The cost is based on the rental of the unit and the cost for staff to monitor.
As for how it works. It's not really GPS.. The receiving device is a unit that plugs into the wall and a dedicated phone line. It has a range of 'x' amount of feet, and if the transmitter (the part you wear) goes outside of that range, it will dial the monitoring center and notify them the person is out of range.
It works EXACTLY like a cordless phone. When you get out of range, you lose signal, at that time, it dials. (it's a little more sophisticated than a cordless phone - but that's the general principal)
Small, lightweight and waterproof up to 1m
Up to 4 week battery life
Easily attaches to backpacks, vehicles and pet collars with included case
Faulty GPS Home Confinement system readings?
So, basically, I'm on home confinement until April 6th, 2009. Yesterday, I was ordered to wear a GPS monitoring system.
I put the equipment in the dock, as told by officers, at 8pm like I was supposed to. I haven't left the house at all.
This morning, I took it out of the dock at 8am, also as told, and kept it with me everywhere I went around the house.
At about 10:30am, the Home Confinement officer who hooked up the equipment the previous day came with reports saying that I'd been moving about all over the town since she left. She also said that earlier that morning, I'd been on Honaker Ave.(I don't even know where this is, mind you.)
My mother and I both told her that I hadn't been anywhere, but she proceeded to raise her voice over ours. My mother asked numerous times if we could somehow get the equipment checked, but she threatened to arrest her and myself.
I then signed a form stating that I had denied leaving the area bounds of the GPS tracker. If you have any information of faulty readings like this, PLEASE let me know. I need help. Bad.
.. It includes an ankle bracelet, obviously.
This makes no much sense.
What can stop someone to simply leave the monitor at home and go around the city without wearing it? There must be a second layer of checking you are actually wearing it.
Perhaps they have your GPS ID wrong and they track someone else.
Next time ask the officer to assign someone to be with you for a few hours and then check if during those hours was a movement or not. You may be lucky and it can malfunction while you have a witness.

What are the pros and cons of a GPS tracking system in a vehicle?
If a fleet of vehicles were getting fitted with a tracking system so they could be monitored from the office. What do you think the pros and cons would be to set the system up?
pros's, you and the people tracking you always know where your at ,and if in trouble and on a unknown road even at night , system like on star can locate and help, all cell phones can be tracked withing 4 inches of actual location, bad side if you a car thief, or just killed some one they also know where you are, and where you have been , but really that's a upside to, a real down side would be the back up power is dead on the tracking unit and its not working and they cant find your off a cliff that would be a down side
John Mahoney asked: If you are in fleet management, it is no use worrying over the time bunking by your driving staff. As an answer to all you worries, GPS fleet Tracking System is there. Let us explore more about it.Time ManagementTime constraint is a big problem in fleet management business too. In many cases the owners of fleet vehicles find their drivers deliberately doing overtime. Now with the help of GPS (Global Positioning System) one can keep an eye over the working activities of the driving staff. The overhead costs too can be saved to add more to the profit. If the staff takes longer route deliberately in order to earn bucks in form of overtime, this can be discouraged easily.Boost up ProductivityGPS infused fleet tracking system is a very powerful at the hands of the fleet owners to draw more profits in the business. Irresponsible working behavior, shirking work and killing time for extra money is prevalent among the drivers of fleet transport segment. These unwanted working behaviors can be handled and monitored by GPS tracking system. The unproductive driving staff thus can be spotted and expelled if necessary. In this way the work productivity is improved and maintained. Experts have recorded an increase in productivity to the tune of 40 per cent while using GPS enabled tracking system.Big Fuel SavingsFuel is the key input in the transport segment. It is a precious resource to be saved. Due to the steep rise in the fuel cost the operating costs of the fleet and dispatch activities has also increased worldwide. GPS infused fleet tracking system is greatly useful in saving significant amount of fuel per vehicle in each trip. From the point of view of fuel conservation also this is an important method. The intentional as well as natural reason of the longer route of travel taken by the vehicle drivers can be monitored wellBetter...
