Am looking to purchase a handheld GPS device where I can enter coordinates for geocaching?
i have a eXplorist 210. it will down load geocashs from the web site and save all the information about that geocach and even have the hints in the GPS.
it comes with a cable to connect to your pc and some software too. there is also some free software on line you can use also.
i choose the 210 because it was black and white. in the sunshine a color screen is not easy to see. its cheap also. the battery life is great. i got some 2500 nickle-metal hydride batteries from walmarts. it uses 2 i bought 4 i can use 2 and carry 2. this works great.
i have used it and its good. i love to geocach

Can the handheld gps devices be used in cars?
I was thinking about getting a handheld magellan or garmin gps. I do a lot of backpacking and I wanted to get one but at the same time can I use it in the car. Will it show streets and can I put an address to get to and from and it gives directions just like a car gps. obviously i dont know much about these but could anyone help me out by answering this question. What is the difference between a Handheld GPS receiver and a GPS Device?
Im looking at Sat Navs at the mo and Im thinking about a TomTom, the website im looking at says its £114.99, but if I buy it with a GPS Device its £129.99.
What is the difference? Why do I need both? I thought the TomTom has got everything I need with it.

I think you're a little confused. On Amazon.UK, I found the Tom Tom GPS at both of those prices. The lower-price one is without Bluetooth, and the higher-price one includes BlueTooth.
BlueTooth is wireless communication technology that lets your GPS unit communicate with some cell phones. But the added features for cell phones require a subscription service.
Unless you specifically want to use the TomTom PLUS services, just go with the cheaper model.
