I've seen a new GPS tracking devices on ebay for approx $200 that let you plug into your USB to collect information. But what if I want to track something that might be stolen so I don't get the device back? Can anyone point me to any good online stores? Thanks

Well, you can get the Garmin eTrex Legend (the blue one). It has a base map of the USA and/or Canada. You can get them used on eBay for as low as $80 US or buy it new for about $139 US. The dash mount is extra though. Good value for the money if you are looking for something real cheap.

Note, it will just show you where you on the map, not the best turns or route to take.

I was wondering if there is a way you could buy a tracking/gps device where you could always keep track where a person is, or car. For instance, saying a close person to you parked their car somewhere and you wondered when they would be home but they would not tell you, and they sometime like to suprise you lol.

Try looking at the website below, you would just hide the transmitter in his car. Don't know of anything cheaper personally. Good product tho.

Ummm, you never know when things will blow up in your face.....I don't think you should do this at all. Just because you're doing something that she may never know about doesn't mean that it's right. Your daughter is SEVENTEEN years old. In less than a year, she will be making her own decisions. If she is going to go out and do something, it's not going to change much by the time she's 18. If you don't trust her and want to keep tabs on her, then do it in a way that she knows about. And if you tell her about this little gps idea, she's gonna be mad. It's not even very good anyways, not like she can't ditch the car and go with someone else......why not attach them to the clothes she's wearing instead?? I'd say that especially being 17 yrs old, she needs some kind of privacy and this is WAY overstepping the boundaries. If you give her no room to make mistakes on her own, she will resent you later, and a lot of lifes lessons have to be made on your own. Let her make a few. Just because she's your daughter doesn't mean that you can treat and do with her what you want. And just because it's legal doesn't mean it's right.
