Outdoor electronic bug zapper don't work against mosquitos?

Then which bugs does the zapper kill? I am talking about one of those with bright light which attract bugs & when bugs touches it, it zaps it.

In the radius of the light, you will have a net increase of mosquitoes than if you had just left it dark, despite those that are killed.

Ah, summer, when a new battle unfolds in the war between Man and Yellowjacket.

Is it bad to use electronic bug zappers indoors?

It says on the cover that it's for outdoor use only.
I've used foggers, spray, fly trap but none works to catch a mosquito flying around in my 2 bed room apartment. I've just purchased a electronic bug zapper(bright light that'll zap a bug when it touches the light) from a garage sale. When I turned it on, it's really bright but I don't see any reason why it's not safe indoors. Can I safely use it indoors? Cause I cannot sleep with mosquito flying around my room wheezing by & biting me.

One thing you are overlooking is not covering up any water sources that a mosquito will seek out to lay more eggs. Open sink drains and bathtub drains are prime breeding ground for an indoor mosquito. Plant draining saucers, fish tanks, dog water bowl, etc. Get all that covered up then get some spray and spray around really good before you leave the house. Spray where the mosquito hides not in all the open areas. Pull out furniture and shake out the drapes you should see it fly out from somewhere. Bathrooms are a popular handout because they are so humid.

How do I repel/deter flies???

I have a HUGE fly problem in my yard/on my patio. I have tried spraying the patio furniture with bug repellant, I have an electronic bug zapper (which only works on bugs at night, like moths), and those sticky fly strips. Nothing works to actually repel them. Anyone have any ideas????

www.amazingflygun.com .I was told this worked but haven't tried it yet. It is a gun that kills them.A very effective&enexpensive fly dispensers, learned for at the doors: A clear sandwich bag filled 3/4 with water is tied at the top and hung above each side of the doorway. The flies get disoriented by the reflections, and can't fly into or near the buildings. These are also common on many porches, and mom and pop restaurants where flypaper is distasteful. This is very inexpensive and good for keeping the flies out.How it works surprised me.All i know is living in Louisiana with seafood boils, bar b ques, outdoor cooking it worked for me.My grandma called it..( The "Flies spiderweb" )but it isn't quite right when it comes to explaining why bags of water deter houseflies. houseflies, being highly edible and defenseless, are nervous types, and don't like to sit still when they see something moving nearby, because it could be a predator. The water bag acts like a lens in which the movements of people in the area are reflected. Even if the fly is too far from the action to see it directly, it can see a shifting of light and dark in the water bag, which it interprets as nearby movement, and it will fly away from the bag. The reason it doesn't work on any other insects is that the other insects listed don't have eyesight worth a darn. ALSO..
Try lavender. Bunches hanging near open doors and windows, bowls of it scattered around, or oils in a burner. hope this helps

The Grail: An Electronic Pest Control Device

I’ll be up front about it: electronic pest control devices do not work as advertised. Any and all electronic pest control reviews I’ve read have come to the same conclusion. There are a myriad of reasons why this is true, but basically it comes down to the same thing, sound is not a weapon.

Pests are if anything adaptable. Those electronic pest control devices that advertise they use sound don’t take that into account. Pests can get used to sounds so they will come right back. Further, the electromagnetic versions operate on the same false premise. These vibrations sound or electric do not offer enough disruption to cause any real deterrence.

What Should You Do

If you want an electronic pest control device that works, get a bug zapper. These have been around for many years and are very effective against flying insects such as moths and mosquitoes. The creepy crawlies and the vermin are another story. No sound or electromagnetic wave will keep them from creeping into your house. Instead of using some electronic pest control device there are a few things you can do to keep unwanted pests at bay.

Keep your house clean and in good repair. This will make sure there is no easy way in and no readily available food source there for the pests. If the pests can't eat and drink, they are less likely to hang around. A little common sense goes a long way.

Also, make sure cracks and crevices are properly sealed off. A physical barrier is better than any barrier put out by an electronic pest control device. It always pays to have a good caulking gun handy when you need it.

If you need something organic consider traps and lures that use natural ingredients to combat pests. Sticky tape is a good deterrent to bugs. It traps them and they are easily disposed.

Instead of wasting your hard earned money on electronic pest control devices that don't work do you your homework. Make sure you know what you are dealing with and don’t be afraid to consult a professional. It is always best to be safe rather than sorry. If you have to shell out money do it with an eye toward effectiveness.
