What is a good solution for portable digital audio recording?
I want to record live acoustic guitar music with vocals. The smaller the better. I don't need to do any mixing, just live stereo recording.
Minidisc has worked really well for me. I have an older model Sharp that is quite a bit smaller than a cassette Walkman. Not all have mic inputs though. They're on ebay all the time. Check out http://www.minidisc.org.

What is a good quality digital audio portable recorder? (for recording reasonable quality lectures etc.)?
Often recorders will be too poor at picking up a voice in a room - being too noisy etc.
So i guess there must be better quality recorders out there ... which ones are those?
i have recently purchased a digital audo recorder. i needed it for my speech class and to hear my own voice to improve myself. i got an "RCA digital voice recorder"
the only problem i have with it is that i think i sound like a fool, but i always think that when i hear myself.=(

Building a computer to work as a portable video/audio recording hub and need some advice.?
First the question, then more info:
I need advice on what CPU, and video capture card to get for a small PC I am building. I will choose the motherboard based on the CPU and the needs I describe below. The two video capture cards are listed below as well.
I recently bought a working old studio camera that has no memory of any kind, no tape slots, nothing but some RCA cables to plug into a recording deck. I am planning on building one. This computer will only be for recording; no editing will be performed on it at all! Currently its a Micro ATX Slim flat computer to take around with me. I have a sound card that supports multiple XLR inputs (M-AUDIO Delta 1010LT), and two possible video capture cards that support RCA (Pinnacle MovieBoard Plus 230100124 or Hauppauge WinTV-HVR2250). It will have a multi-card reader to allow people with digital camcorders to offload their memory when full as well as fire-wire, usb, and such just in case. I am also including a DVD burner with LiteScribe as it only costs $2 more than without LiteScribe and allows me to install software. I have been out of the computer loop for a while and what I basically need to know is, what is an adequate CPU to record with? I prefer AMD if possible, but not needed, and I don't need anything fancy, just something that will record without glitching. Also, does anyone know which of the Video Capture cards (Pinnacle MovieBoard Plus 230100124 or Hauppauge WinTV-HVR2250) is better for recording different formats?

Is there any portable audio device (other than CD or cass.) for home stereo with a 80+ minute recording time?
It must be able to record. It would have to be able to plug into the stereo via RCA jacks. It must be portable to take to and from work. Would like to be able to record satellite radio off my home dish and bring to work to avoid complete and utter radio station boredom.
you could record on dvd-r. or you could record in mp3 on regular cds.

Is there any (Free) way to remove ambient/ wind noise from audio after recording it.?
Like are there any Free programs with filters that allow me to take out some of the noise because it is really bad btw I already have audacity but i don't know how to use the removal stuff I see noise reduction and the high pass/low pass filters and I don't know what to use. and for futere references what are ways that I could prevent wind noise from entering my portable audio recorder(also known as a cell phone because camera mic is crap)
With audacity you could try removing some of the low frequencies with the equalizer in the effects menu. It probably will not work too great though. It is difficult to remove a noise once it is on the recording - you'll end up removing sounds you want in the process. You want to use a high pass filter to remove the wind noise. You'll need to experiment.
To prevent wind noise, you might try covering the mic with a small piece of foam rubber or cloth.

Are there any portable mp.3 players that can record audio?
I am trying to purchase a digital replacement for my minidisc player which has finally died. I've heard rumours of a portable mp3 player in Japan that can record audio as mp3 or wav data. I am aware of products that record fm radio or voice but I require recording of any audio.
yes they are quite common among 'no-name' brands, just get one with a built-in microphone
