I wanted to make an audio of my uncles music from a video. I have windows xp media editon, but I have not been able to figure out what to do. I am new at this. :)

first you hook your camcorder up to your computer with a firewire cable, then turn it on, and put it on the video playback mode, then youll want to open windows movie maker, and capture the video form the camcorder, then once it is done dokiing that, it should automatically import it into windows movie maker so you can edit it, once it does,, just delete the video portion, and save it as an mp3 file. (.mp3)

One of the world's smallest digital voice recorder.

I'm going to a concert (reserved seating) in a week and would like to live tape it. I used to do this with a tape recorder but its been about 4 years and am now looking at upgrading to digital equipment. The thing is, I'm on a budget. Looking to spend under a $100 on the recorder and under $50 on a mic. I'm not too keen on buying a used mini disc, was never too interested in those players. So, I'm wondering what digital record on a budget would get me the best quality sound on such a budget. It needs to have a line in for the mic as I believe having that would aid in improving the sound quality caught. Thanks!

get one that is at least 100 cause they will last long and have good quality.

try philips or sony.. philips are always high quality but dont last long... but sony's are pretty good altogether

You should be able to skip a step and connect the audio source directly into your computer, but going into your mini-sound system will work as well. If you're not using a mic, you need to connect line out of your music source to line in to your computer or mini-sound system.

There are many college professors/instructors who say noadays who don't want to be recorded. Yet what they say isn't in the textbooks AND what they lecture on is on the exams. I find it unfair that does of us who can't write fast or suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome.

SO I need help selecting a good mini recorder which I can put in my backpack that is good enough to record what the instructor is saying without the instructor actually knowing that I"m recording him/her. I need one that can record at least 4-6hrs and that I can download to my computer for me to make audio CD copies.

My partner and I had to interview someone last week for school. I taped the entire conversation on my mini audio tape recorder. I have several tapes! How can I take that conversation and transfer it into MS Word without having to play that tape, listen to it, then type it out? I've been listening to the tape and typing down what I hear. It's taking me forever do this. I've spent days and hours typing out the conversation on Word. It's a pain!! Is their an easier way do this? Is their a program I could use? Anything? My teachers wants the transcripts of the conversation. I also have a paper to write and I'm not even finished with my transcripts. I only have a week to finish this assignment. Please can you help me out! I'm stressed out!!

Well, I think the most accurate way would be to type the transcript carefully, but it does take time. No big news there, right?

However, there are many Voice Recognition Programs that will convert spoken words to text. I shall not recommend any in particular just now, as you would need to study them to decide what would work best for you.

Be aware that even the best are no better than the quality of the words spoken. There will be errors in converting many spoken words, but if the tapes are very clear, you should get pretty good results. Failing that, you could listen to the tapes with headphones or something and then recite carefully what was on the tape, a little at a time.

Even with errors, though, if the software is good and you tapes are okay, you could edit out the errors fairly easily.

There are other ways to convert the magnetic patterns to data the computer can read, but that would complicated, expensive, and probably not readily available to you.
