ok well I've downloaded audacity (a free audio editor and recorder). The problem is that I really don't hve any ideas of how to use it..so I thought some pros here would like to help. We hve a science project and there will be a movie that we are going to make...so basically I want to change our voices (in the recording) in this chipmunk style.. I hope u ppl understand what I'm saying. Can someone here give me the whole instructions plz!!!! Thank u...n if u guys wanna suggest another software much better than this plzz tell but explain how to use it too.

load your sound, select all of it then

Effects>change pitch

slide the percent change slider at the bottom to the right until you sound enough like a chipmunk ;)

i got a problem with people messing with my computer and i just want to cetch them and see what they are doing and they also seem to like to break in my home and go thrue stuff and take things that are small and petty and it has been bugging me for months now. i want to proove it in a slick way. i want to find some kind of freeware or cost free shareware that can be sound activated and record audio and vidio when sound is detected and after "x" amount of time , shut off automaticly. i want it hidden,(if possable,) and aible to record over 4 hours of vidio and sound, WE NEED HELP!!! we dont have the money for survailence and the police wont help without evedence and this would help greatly. there is a small, almoste hidden sighn on the door that states a warning and it dosent work. i have a thinkpad, windows xp pro. and a microphone and vidio recorder in one. this should help a little, even if i have to write it it would be nice to know wear i can find reascources and help in doing it.
let me make something else clear to the 2nd person who answeared this q. ; #1 - it was an idia for softwear that was all, and i wanted to see if it exists, #2- ive lost over $4,000.00 in stuff and am trying to work from home and get off s.s.i. . as for sci fi b.s., i preferr gory creature features.just thot you should know, the first person makes more scence so far, thank you.

I have a labtech quickcam. The program that came with it has motion detection. It will only record when something in the room is detected by the webcam or by sound. It has different levels of sound and motion. It only costed me $20 for the cam, but I wouldn't recommend using this camerea for survailence, because the details are not good enough in the dark. I just bought it to chat with other people. Since you already have a cam. Try this:

You'll be able to find some free trial software version for this. Good luck catching them.

I have a Gateway...windows xp...plus i install the software but cant get my programs like Acid Pro or the Sound Recorder to get any signal...what can i do before i take it back for a refund

Make sure you have properly installed the driver for the M-Audio interface, also make sure it is connected to the computer. A condensor mic requires phantom power that will be supplied by the interface, make sure that it does indeed supply phantom power and that it is turned on.

Where can I download a free programme to record audio from the BBC, I did have one called Recorder Pro I think, but that has to be paid for!
